Turkey

My first time in Turkey was when I had to get a connection flight from Istanbul. I had a few hours before my next flight; I opted to get a transit visa to go for some sightseeing. The image I had in my mind about Turkey was nothing like it looked like in reality. I was expecting for something like the villas in Spain. I knew that Turkey has been historically famous and civilisation has flourished over here for many thousand years. But I did not have the slightest idea of the wonderful food that they have here. If you are a food lover then this is one place in the world that you do not want to miss. They variety they have here surely promises to salivate every pallet.

Mussels are my favourites but they just got better in Turkey. They have stuffed mussels as a part of their starter. Having a chilled mug of beer along with some stuffed mussels can really make you feel good. You have to eat it by scoping out the meat from the shell and then sprinkle it with some fresh lemon juice. The stuffing is mostly rice, spices and pine nuts. You can easily find it in any restaurant, but just in case if you land in one that does not have it, you can directly ask them and they will guide you to the right place, and will only appreciate your liking for their food.

Another of my hot favourite was the doner Kebab. I was told that this is what most people have after a whole night of partying. You can either have a chicken doner or a lamb doner. You can easily spot a doner center due to the huge quantity of chicken and lamb rotating in front of the flame. It is put on a slice of bread with tomatoes, lettuce and onions when served. You can use some ketchup along with it. But if you really want to enjoy the doner I would say forget the ketchup.

There was not much I could do as I had to get back to the airport. But I am certainly planning for a vacation in Turkey this year and I am hoping to enjoy this great country to the fullest this time.
