Go Goa!

This monsoon I decided to relax and unwind my nerved muscles on the famous beaches of Goa, India. The best time to visit Goa is undoubtedly during monsoons, which falls between June and September. The rains in Goa color it with splashes of green and make the place seem closer to nature.

Goa is warm and sunny almost throughout the year and a great place to get the perfect tan. It is dotted with beaches and there is something for everyone here. The Calangute Beach is crowded almost throughout the year and offers water sports to its tourists. Since, I enjoy places that offer calm and peace I headed straight to the Vagador Beach. It offers a postcard view of coconut trees framing the sands. It is a perfect place to enjoy with a loved one by your side. Its breathtaking beauty made me fall in love again. Baga Beach is another famous beach in Goa that is an extension of Calangute beach. It has some great shacks lining its shores. You can enjoy your drinks in one of these shacks that are open throughout the night usually on weekends.

Shopaholics like me always have a reason to go back to Goa. The market outside Calangute beach is a good place to find artifacts from almost all over India. Goa is also known for its flea markets and the pre requisite for shopping in Goa is that the shopper needs to be a champion at bargaining, from textiles to reed diffusers you can find loads of treasures. I shopped and bargained to my heart’s content at the Anjuna Beach Flea market, which takes places every Wednesday.

Another place to visit in Goa is the Aquada Fort. It was built in the year 1612 and was later converted into a prison. It reminds one of the tortures meted out to its prisoners. Goa is blessed with churches. The World famous Basilica of Bom Jesus Church houses the mortal remains of St Francis Xavier. Goa is a place that one can visit over and over again because of the splendors it offers.
